Wisdom Teeth Removal

Wisdom teeth are a third set of molars that usually appear in teens and young adults. Many times, these molars are misaligned in the mouth, causing adjacent teeth to become damaged or crowded or cause pain in the jawbone. If this happens, it is recommended the wisdom teeth removal surgery be performed.

Reasons to have your wisdom teeth removed:

• Your wisdom teeth do not fit in your mouth
• You experience chronic pain in your gums around your wisdom teeth
• Your wisdom teeth do not come in straight
• Your wisdom teeth are causing tooth decay to adjacent

Prior to the removal of the wisdom teeth, a large panoramic x-ray of the jaw will be taken to determine the position of the teeth and if any are impacted. On the day of the surgery, patients will be given a sedative to eliminate the pain during the teeth extraction. It is important to follow all care instructions following surgery to ensure proper healing and pain management.
